This is the temple of Lord Nrusingha, one of the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Lord Nrusingha is the combination of 'Nara' that is Human Being and 'Singha' that is Lion. So the God was Lion above His waist and Human (with two legs) for the body parts under the waist. In this avatar the Lord killed the demon 'Hiranyakasyapu' who had tried to kill 'Prahllad', one of the best devotee of Lord Vishnu.
The Nrusingha Temple ( in the picture) is in Balangir town, near Govt. Bus Stand and the famous pond 'Karanga-kataa'. It is an old temple of Balangir. It is situated in Balangir of Odisha, India. Please don't beconfused, this is not the temple of Nrusinghanath, the tourist place near Padampur.
